Finding success can be a challenge for many Millennials. We have to juggle our jobs, our personal lives, and our relationships at once — sometimes with little to no assistance. Sadly, being an advocate for ourselves can be a little tiring at times, if anything, it can be downright depressing. Fortunately for us, bloggers like Deja W. are helping like-minded folks take charge of their lives.
Breakroom Buddha is the brainchild of Deja. A noted professional blogger, Deja uses her platform to help people live their professional lives to the fullest. Through her blog, Deja shares expert career advice, travel tips, and positive affirmations in a unique, personable voice. From travel safety tips during the pandemic to tips on navigating unpaid internships, this fierce career-minded Black woman has everything one needs for success.
With her philosophy: “Work hard, play harder, and live life to the fullest,” anything is possible for Deja. To learn more about her, read the blogger’s comments below on this iteration of blogger of the week.

Can you describe your blog?
“Breakroom Buddha is an elevation tool dedicated to helping young adults! I cover a range of topics that uplift young adults looking for ways to navigate their professional and personal lives. On my blog, you'll find career tips, interviews with professionals, travel guides, and even a personal journal about me and how I navigate the rocky waters of adulthood.”
Why did you become a blogger?
“In all honesty, I used to get approached a lot about my career journey/choices and why I decided to go down that path. My travel stories and adventures always seemed to be a popular topic, as well. So I thought to myself... hmmmm. Why don't I just start a blog! I'm always doing something and sharing information and tips, so I thought a blog could be a good way to capture and share all the things that I know. Also! This blog is not my first rodeo. Throughout the years, I've created multiple blogs and websites, so I'd say I'm a pro blogger at this point.”
What are your goals with your blog?
”I really want to give people the tools and help remove unnecessary barriers in their personal and career journeys. [I also want to] capture my personal memories. Like I mentioned above, I do a lot — a whole lot. I'm the type of person who hates being bored, so that's why I'm always meeting interesting people, trying something new out, eating some kind of bizarre food, etc. I want to be better about documenting these experiences and sharing them so that I never forget those moments!”
When did you start blogging?
“So truthfully, I started my very first blog in 2009. It was a Tumblr [blog] — all the cool kids were doing it. [Then] I would go on to have three other Tumblr blogs and a Blogger blog throughout the years. I've had my most recent blog, “Breakroom Buddha,” since September 2019.”
What makes your blog unique?
“Breakroom Buddha is an interesting journey that takes a fun approach to talking about topics that we all experience at some point in our lives.
Since my blog targets young working adults, I also take boring corporate language and give it a cool spin. For example, I use language like "Out of Office" to describe travel and lifestyle topics, "Bulletin Board" to post inspiring Ted talk videos and motivational quotes, and "Sticky Notes" to give advice/tips on career topics.”
What do you want readers to take away from your writing?
“As long as my readers learn something new and exciting by the end of my post, I'm happy. If I inspire them to go somewhere new, change their career journey, or engage in a new experience of some kind, then that's even better!”
Do you have any final words?
”Check out Breakroom Buddha. You won't be disappointed.”
